Both Allbirds and Adidas have pursued sustainable manufacturing in their own ways. Adidas, for its part, has been making ocean plastic footwear in partnership with Parley for the Oceans for years. The collaboration’s first shoe came out in 2015 and the two have since made 30 million pairs, the statement said.

The launch is just the latest in a series of news from Allbirds, which filed for an IPO in August and debuted on the Nasdaq in November.
