H.Moser & Cie and Undefeated Collab on a New Streamliner Chronograph – Robb Report

The new limited edition from H. Moser & Cie mixes classic watchmaking with street culture.

Made in collaboration with Los Angeles-based sportswear brand Undefeated, the 42.3mm timepiece is built around the themes of victory and virtue. It’s also a nod to the brand’s street culture-based mantra: “Play Dirty.” Dubbed the Streamliner Chronograph Undefeated, it’s the first watch in the brand’s now four-piece Streamliner series that features dark gray DLC-treated steel on its cushion case and integrated bracelet links.

Closer examination reveals a smoky Black Tiger Camo dial, a design of Undefeated’s work, which is first engraved and then coated with multiple layers of lacquer to create its stealth color. The sportswear brand’s logo is also featured at 12 o’clock, while the H. Moser name is featured in an understated light gray below. To tie it all together, a finish is applied on top of the lacquer to give it the signature gradient effect of H. Moser et Cie.

The idea for the collaborative watch came from Eric Cheng, one of the co-owners of Undefeated and an avid collector of H. Moser & Cie, who himself contacted the CEO of the watch brand, Edouard Meylan. Once the project was selected, the manufacturer focused on the proportions, fluid shapes and high-end finishes of the piece. Similar to previous models in the series, the Streamliner Chronograph Undefeated features rounded curves that mirror the early high-speed trains of the 1920s and 1930s, which serve as the watch’s namesake and inspiration.

Other notable features include separate tracks for elapsed seconds and minutes. The hour and minute hands are formed in two sections and have inserts in anthracite gray Globolight, a ceramic-based material containing Super-LumiNova.

As for the movement of this special edition, the piece is equipped with Caliber HMC 902. It was developed jointly by the Geneva watchmaker Agenhor and H. Moser & Cie with a frequency of 21,000 vph, bidirectional winding, tungsten oscillating weight, as well as a column-wheel chronograph and a two-stage chronograph mechanism. Composed of 434 components, the movement delivers a minimum power reserve of 54 hours. Be sure to flip the watch over to view its movement through the transparent case back.

The Streamliner Chronograph Undefeated is limited to just 76 pieces and will be available online and in select Undefeated stores starting June 22. You can also order one of your own via the H. Moser & Cie website.
