Get your wiffle ball and paddle ready, Pickleball Kingdom is now open!
“Pickleball Kingdom is the premier indoor pickleball facility in Arizona and it’s actually one of the few in the entire country and one of the largest,” said Mike Rodrigues, Founder/CEO of Pickleball Kingdom, in an interview with ABC15.
The Chandler Indoor Pickleball Center has 15 courts and is open daily.
“The great thing about pickleball is it’s fun, interactive, social, but there are downsides…you’re in the sun, you’re in the wind,” Rodrigues said. “So what Pickleball Kingdom did [is] we’ve eliminated all those types of distractions. It’s indoors, you’re sheltered from the heat, it’s nice and cool, there’s no sun in your eyes or on your skin, and there’s no wind. Even if there is alternating current, the alternating current will never affect your ball. So we kind of kept all the great things about pickleball and removed the things that weren’t so great about it.
“You hear indoor pickleball [and] that’s a bit of a misnomer…because normally it’s a gym that has indoor pickleball which means they put tape on their basketball courts and you’re a little confused by the eight colors different from the lines on the ground, there are no rear stops [and] the ball rolls 50 feet every time you miss it,” Rodrigues said. “Our facility is a true dedicated indoor pickleball facility, where it is with courts that are designed for. They are actually outdoor surfaces – which everyone knows and loves, when they play in parks – but with all the benefits inside,” he added.
You don’t know how to play? Learn for free.
“We offer free lessons, we call it Pickleball 101 for anyone in the audience. So they don’t have to be members with us, they can literally go to our website, register as a visitor, then check our calendar and see what date suits them,” Rodrigues explained. “We’ll provide the paddles, the balls, the instructor…they just have to show up with sports shoes or training tennis shoes – and other than that we’ll take care of it from there,” he added.
