Lil Nas X is suing in the new video teaser for his highly anticipated new single.
The rapper shared a new video on Monday titled “Nike v. Lil Nas X – Satan Shoes Trial”, where the 22-year-old star performs a skit featuring a fictitious legal battle against the sneaker giant for his viral “Satan shoes” . who were released in March. (Nike and the company that actually designed the shoe, MSCHF, actually settled the lawsuit in April over the high-profile sneakers.)
Lil Nas X acted as himself, the lawyer, the opposition, a juror, the judge and more in the two-minute video skit of the trial. The focus of the video quickly shifts from shoes to her sexuality.
“Let me rephrase the question: does your mom know you gay?” The music star said as the lawyer character as she took the stand in the video. When Lil Nas X answers’ yes’, her juror character makes a clear statement, ‘Lock him up, throw away the key. “
The judge in the video ultimately sentences the artist to five years in Montero state prison, which ties in with his hit single, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”. The teaser video is for his new single, âIndustry Baby,â which stars rapper Jack Harlow and is produced by Kanye West and Take A Daytrip.
The video comes after Lil Nas X spent the weekend posting TikToks and tweets claiming he would appear “in court” on Monday for trial.
“The judge tomorrow when I try to flirt with him to avoid going to jail,” he captioned a video.
In another clip, he captioned: “When you have a court on Monday for satan’s shoes and you could go to jail, but your etiquette tells you to keep doing tiktoks.”
In April, Oregon-based Nike and MSCHF struck a deal for a voluntary recall, ending the legal battle between the two over high-profile sneakers. Nike sued MSCHF for trademark infringement after MSCHF released a limited edition of the modified Air Max 97s, priced at $ 1,018 and decorated with a bronze pentagram pendant and a drop of human blood . The shoes sold out in less than a minute and quickly sparked outrage online.
