As the world’s most popular performance apparel manufacturer by a landslide, Nike tends to stay one step ahead of its competitors. In unveiling its latest pair of marathon running shoes, the Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% 2, the Beaverton-based brand expects athletes to do the same.
The innovative shoe offers unrivaled performance capabilities for long-distance runners. After taking elements from what the notorious first generation had to offer, as well as implementing some all-around improvements, Nike’s updates revolve around improving stability and transitioning for all the runners. The NEXT% 2 features a full-length ZoomX foam midsole with a pair of Zoom Air modules, the latter reinforced with additional foam, paving the way for increased energy return with every stride. .
Similar to the previous pair, as well as countless other high-end running shoes, the new Alphafly also features a full-length curved carbon plate. Finally, the upper is now constructed using Atomknit 2.0, which provides much-needed forefoot containment, breathability in the toe box, and extra cushioning in the tongue area. The second-generation Alphafly’s predominantly white prototype colorway draws inspiration from the cobbler’s marathon athletes, serving as a tribute to its athlete-centric development process.
Like most of Nike’s high-end running shoes, stock of the Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% 2 in the prototype colorway is very limited, but more colors will be released in the near future.
