New York institution Belgian shoes sells hand-sewn, hand-turned moccasins, made in Belgium. Owned by luxury shoemaker Georges Vanacker, the entrepreneur entrusted his three daughters, Barbara, Vanessa and Sarah, with managing operations, manufacturing and sales in 2019. The brand’s signature styles for men and women consist of an unstructured moccasin sewn inside out and then hand sewn. shot after completion. Each insole of these comfortable, lightweight shoes is filled with hair sewn by skilled craftswomen in the Belgian countryside. The shoes are available in four widths and available in a rainbow of colors and prints in leather, suede, jacquard, velvet and pony. The brand’s dedicated international clientele includes multi-generational fans who can now flock to the new 55th Street flagship to find their favorite apartments. The brand’s latest is a collaboration with London-based artist Boyarde Messenger, founder and creative director of Boyarde Art House. Messenger hand painted two unique and colorful surreal works of art using the classic Midinette shoe as a canvas, creating novelty footwear.
