Vietnam’s footwear and leather exports grow 13% in Jan-July 2022

Vietnam exported shoes and leather products worth $14 billion between January and July 2022, registering an annual increase of 13 percent, according to Vietnam Leather Footwear and Handbag Industry. North America’s export revenues increased by 24% and those of the European Union (EU) by 17.5% in the first 7 months of 2022.

The value of exports increased by 18.2% for Vietnam-EU FTA member markets and 10.5% for CPTPP member markets over the same period.

The remaining months of the year will present opportunities as well as challenges for Vietnam, the country’s media quoted Phan Thi Thanh Xuan, vice president of Vietnam’s leather shoes and handbags industry, as saying. She added that major export markets such as the United States and the EU are experiencing reduced consumption, which is impacting purchasing power.
