VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – After winning a national competition earlier this year, Virginia Beach-themed shoes are sold out. However, the shoes cost slightly more than your average pair.
Each pair sold for $ 899 !!
Nike SB News and Information announced in March on Instagram this Salem High School graduate and Coast Guard member Kenny Jones had won the competition. Jones’ beach design was chosen by a committee of voters, which ranked each of the top five shoe models.
Its design used the color scheme from the famous “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” painting, with varying shades of blue to represent water and a beige outsole for the sand. It also included the Oceanfront’s infamous “no curse” signs, a trident for King Neptune, and musical symbols to pay homage to the city’s musical legends.
Officials say the shoes are expected to ship in two to five months. However, the delivery time may vary due to COVID-19.
The contest is not affiliated with Nike or the Nike SB, a popular skate shoe.
